As a Development Services Student Researcher, you will be given meaningful, productive and challenging assignments while being introduced to a career in municipal government. In this position you will be exposed to the development planning process at The City with a special focus on the telecommunications infrastructure review and approval process. The Development Services Student Researcher's primary duties are to:
- Conduct research to identify best practices for telecommunications infrastructure review process (ANT files), including best practice in other jurisdictions.
- Review and make recommendations regarding the existing policy and review framework for ANT files.
- Create materials for internal and external participants.
- Enrolled in a Panning or a Planning-related discipline (Geography, Urban Studies, GIS) diploma or degree program.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in ArcGIS will be considered an asset.
- You show initiative and are able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Your work is accurate and shows attention to detail.
- You are a strong communicator, with a demonstrated focus on conflict resolution and problem solving, and an aptitude for building positive relationships with internal and external partners.
- You demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills, while being adaptable and embracing change.
- Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis with the intent to return to school full-time in the Fall of 2024.
