Job description

Your opportunity

By joining the Kardium team, you can help make a difference in the lives of millions around the world. We have developed a ground-breaking medical device for the minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of the most common heart rhythm disorder, atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation can cause stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications.

Kardium has a fantastic technical team that has developed a product with strong, unique, and customer-valued differentiators versus other solutions on the market: The Globe® Pulsed Field System. We have built connections with key opinion leaders who are already using the Globe System and are helping to tell our story.

We are searching for a Research and Development (R&D) Technician to join our product development team.

What you'll be doing

The R&D Technician will support Engineering activities for the development of next-generation products and manufacturing processes, as well as improvements to the current-generation manufacturing processes. The R&D Technician will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assembling and building prototypes for next-generation products and/or processes following minimal instructions
  • Assembling, building, and testing new production equipment, involving mechanical and electrical components
  • Performing lab testing activities: collecting raw data and delivering to engineering for analysis
  • Keeping engineering lab spaces and equipment clean, organized, and in good repair
  • Performing formal rework on non-conforming product
  • Designing and building simple tools and temporary fixtures for engineering activities
  • Communicating with Engineering to provide feedback on manufacturability and opportunities for improvement
  • Providing written stepwise instructions to help draft Work Instructions for new processes

What you bring to the team

Our Kardium team is smart, creative, and passionate about developing cutting-edge medical devices to help improve people's lives. We work in a collaborative environment based on trust and respect. We understand that only by working together can we solve what was thought unsolvable.

You are suited to our approach and possess these attributes:

  • High school diploma
  • Previous experience working as a Manufacturing Technician is beneficial
  • Prior exposure to Good Manufacturing Practices and working in a cleanroom
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination especially when working with a microscope
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including maturity, teamwork, respect, courtesy, tact, and discretion
  • Ability to deal with changing priorities and requirements
  • A strong drive to succeed with a track record of being highly productive

Compensation

  • $76,800 – 86,700 (CAD Annually)
