Resident Care Attendant Team Lead
(Full-Time Permanent Multisite Position)
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Resident Care Attendant Team Lead works as a liaison between the Resident Care Attendant’s and the clinical Management Team and functions in a mentorship/preceptor role for RCA’s. The RCA Team Lead is responsible for supporting the LPN/RN with clinical tasks, rounds, documentation, orientation of new staff, attends resident/family meetings, aids in performance discussions, auditing and education.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- As a member of the Management Team, the Lead RCA ensures that the residents are attended to in a caring and attentive manner, responding to the needs of residents in a timely manner and maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Acts in a leadership role to ensure cooperation among the RCA’s to ensure duties are completed.
- Reviews RCA role standards with new employees as needed. Participates in implementing action plans for new employees. Provides feedback to the Nurse Manager with specific performance information for training needs.
- Works cohesively as a member of the Resident Care team, anticipating the needs of team members, as well as the residents.
- Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with each resident, family and team member.
- Answers call bells and responds to resident requests promptly to support and aid the front-line team where needed.
- Constantly maintains confidentiality/privacy of all resident information.
- Maintains operational service standards, with particular attention to personal/behavioral, staff teamwork, and resident-staff interaction guidelines.
- Supports in creating care plans for residents with focus on residents daily living, including but not limited to bathing, feeding, toileting, dressing and grooming.
- Anticipates the individual needs of residents regarding ADL within the plan of care established by the Nurse.
- Adapts standard ADL care to the unique needs of each resident, within the plan of care established by the Nurse.
- Maintains familiarity with expected resident outcomes of all tasks performed, recognizes situations requiring Nurse notification.
- Maintains thorough understanding of activity and equipment within the working environment, including the application of safety precautions.
- Assist RCA’s in measuring and recording non-invasive vital signs, resident weight, intake/output, glucometer readings, etc.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Non-Clinical Duties:
- Attends leadership staff meetings.
- Acts as a liaison between RCA and nursing staff.
- Participates in educational/orientation offerings to ensure ongoing enhancement of clinical and interpersonal skills.
- Involved in site quality assurance regarding documentation and core activities as related to the RCA role.
- Ensures resident suites are maintained by regularly auditing practices such as clean bed linens, daily tidy, equipment cleaning, etc.

- Demonstrated proficiency in the ability to treat residents and staff with respect, dignity and care.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the ability to resolve contentious or sensitive issues, or situations requiring conflict resolution.
- Demonstrates a strong desire to serve and care for seniors, encouraging participation in recreational activities including the provision of one-on-one support when necessary.
- Resident-centered approach to care, as well as an awareness of the potential for cognitive changes to occur.

Experience, Training/Education and Work Record:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Care Attendant diploma will be considered an asset.
- Minimum of five years experience in a senior or long-term care setting.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, mature, caring and compassionate person who has a demonstrated interest in working in a seniors’ environment.
- Ability to work in a flexible, resilient environment to meet the needs of residents.
- A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
Hours of Work:
- Full-time hours regularly scheduled in advance for a minimum of 75 hours bi-weekly
- Shifts will include days, nights, weekends, and holiday coverage.
Rate of Pay: $25.00 per hour.
