Resident Experience Aide

As the Resident Experience Aide, your role is to ensure the well-being of our residents through the planning and delivery of high-quality programs, as well as safely driving our community members various places using either our 20 or 16 passenger buses, or our 6-passenger van.

Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

Work directly with the residents to gather information on community interests or needs that will help form our program offering and calendar

Facilitate and emcee events including outings, programming, and resident projects

Assist set up and take down, furniture re-arranging for special in-house events

Assist new residents by orientating them to the community and explaining our Resident Experience offerings; including regular follow up during their first few months

Oversee the pre-trip inspection, itinerary planning, passenger pick up, loading, drop-off, and return of residents during outing as the driver of the bus

Assist with loading/unloading of resident purchases during shopping trips

Keeping the vehicle clean and well maintained, exterior and interior washing of the vehicles as needed

Coordination of the annual vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

Class 4 Drivers License; 2-5 years of driving experience

Good driving record (no more than 4 demerits and no serious driving offences)

2+ years’ experience in recreation/programming considered an asset

Strong interpersonal skills relating to older adults with diverse needs, including those with cognitive impairment and/or physical challenges

Strong organization and time management skills; able to work independently, problem solve and take initiative

HOURS OF WORK: 20 hours minimum per week, including evenings and weekends

Physical Requirements

Must be able to manage the wheelchair lift on the bus and securing all mobility aides on the bus

Must be able to walk up to 1km at a time

Must be able to lift 30 lbs independently

Must be able to crouch, reach and bend

Covid precautions: Mandatory vaccinations, self-screening and testing requirements in place; may be continous masking protocols depending on the status of the community.
