We are seeking a Retirement & Benefits Advisor to join our Total Rewards team for a duration of approximately 12 months. Under
the direction of the Benefits Lead, is responsible for the administration of Manitoba Hydro's retirement program, benefit plans and
other compensation and benefit programs. Supports the communication, implementation, administration and execution of a variety of
benefit programs and continuous improvement of internal processes and compliance efforts aligned with Manitoba Hydro's Total
Rewards strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide confidential retirement and benefit counseling to employees assisting them with benefit program entitlement/options
and information relating to retirement benefits, benefit payments, program coverage, and the taxability of retirement income
and retiree benefits.
  • Act as an employee resource for compensation and benefit questions.
  • Escalate issues with providers as needed, provide assistance to management, human resources advisors and employees
until resolution is attained.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of communications and corporate policies regarding Manitoba Hydro's

benefits programs, ensuring employees appreciate and optimize their use of Manitoba Hydro's benefit programs with a focus
on utilization of self-service and technology applications.

  • Participate in planning and coordination of benefit program activities.
  • Assist in providing reporting and analytics to demonstrate benefit programs usage and inform future reward plans.
  • Monitor and track benefit program costs and ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Provide assistance in researching compensation and benefit collective bargaining issues as well as implementation of
bargaining outcomes.
  • Participate on project teams to implement benefits/programs, support union negotiation processes and outcomes/changes,
support system changes and other initiatives as necessary.
  • Develop and conduct internal training sessions and seminars.
  • Complete compensation & benefit surveys.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes and benefit trends, analyze their implications for Manitoba Hydro, and recommend action

where appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year Business Degree (HR Major or related discipline) from an institute of recognized standing and a minimum of
one-year of directly related experience;
OR
  • Two-year related Diploma (HR Major or related discipline) from an institute of recognized standing plus a minimum of
three-years directly related experience.

  • Possession of a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Chartered Human Resource Professional (CPHR) or Certified
Benefits Professional (CBP) would be considered an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of internal and external benefits available to employees and retirees is an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of Corporate Policies, collective agreements, and human resource practices and procedures is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with staff at all levels
of the organization is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle confidential data with discretion and integrity.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet schedules.
  • Must be team oriented and committed to the principles of continuous improvement.
  • Keep abreast of legislation, policies and programs affecting any of the areas in which counselling is performed.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $31.31 - $43.31 Hourly,
$59,996.56 - $82,983.16 Annually.
