Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position:
S2324-84 Student Advocacy Counselor - Kikino School
This is a part-time (0.80 fte) position commencing as soon as possible. The Student Advocacy Counselor promotes student success, provides preventative services and responds to identified student needs. The successful applicant will provide universals for the entire school that targets executive functioning and social skills.
Kikino School is located on the Kikino Metis Settlement 40 km South of the Town of Lac La Biche with approximately120students in grades ECS to 8. Kikino School is committed to delivering staff who are well-versed in quality instructional delivery that exists in a safe and caring environment with a focus on academic achievement and built on a foundation of holistic child development awareness.
Preference will be given to applicants who have :
A minimum qualification of a Social Work Diploma or greater
A personal philosophy for creating strong relationships with youth and families
Ability to provide counseling for students
Ability to provide support and referrals for students and families
Ability to develop behaviour support plans
Ability to provide crisis intervention
Proven ability to be a strong contributing member of a motivated team
Previous experience with Google Workspace (Google Classroom, Meet, Drive, etc.)
A understanding of intergenerational trauma, indigenous culture, healing circles, restorative justice, etc.
