Safety Administrative Assistant

SOUTHLAND is seeking a Safety Administrative Assistant to support our Edmonton locations. This is a great opportunity to enhance your safety leadership skills and expand your knowledge in school bus operations within the transportation industry.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining accurate safety records and investigation reports
- Collaborate on the documentation of collision/incident files with the company’s adjustors and insurers
- Contribute to the implementation of local safety programs, policies, safe work procedures
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections and transportation safety audits to identify and address potential hazards
- Monitor and improve safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and transportation safety legislation
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- A Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver's abstract and a willingness to upgrade to a Class 2QS
- Completion of or working towards a post-secondary credential from an Occupational Health and Safety program (e.g. OHS certificate, degree, or diploma)
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) busing-related and transportation safety legislation
