We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Safety Specialists to join our team at McArthur River. The Safety Specialists will play a crucial role in ensuring that construction activities comply with Cameco’s safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) requirements, monitoring daily activities to identify hazardous conditions, and implementing safe work procedures.

Experience:

  • Intermediate (4-9yrs)
  • Senior (10+yrs)

The Safety Specialist will:

  • Work closely with the construction management team (CMT) and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental procedures and work instructions.
  • Conduct workplace inspections with the CMT, focusing on behavioral observations.
  • Review field level risk assessments (FLRAs) and daily contact cards for quality adherence.
  • Conduct and monitor SHEQ-related training for CMT personnel and contractors, assessing qualifications of construction contractor personnel.
  • Participate in job hazard assessments, safety meetings, toolbox meetings, constructability reviews, and project kick-off meetings upon request.
  • Conduct daily and weekly job site inspections as per procedure.
  • Identify and review various health and safety concerns specific to the work site.
  • Investigate injuries, accidents, and near misses as per site corrective action processes.
  • Ensure timely notification occurs of significant events.
  • Monitor the quality of incident investigations and ensure effective and appropriate corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.

Skills/Previous Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Safety Specialist in a construction environment.
  • Familiarity with safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct effective workplace inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Experience in incident investigation and corrective action implementation.
  • ISN Training Activities:
  • To be assigned and completed prior to the start.
  • All Workers - Pre Access.
  • "Location Specific" - Pre Access.

Work Schedule:

  • 2 weeks in / 2 weeks out, 11 hours per day
