Job Summary

A School Bus Monitor is a safety first individual responsible for assisting in the careful transport of children on Home-to-School routes. School Bus Monitors must be compassionate people capable of managing a group of students of varying ages, needs and behaviors. A School Bus Monitor is a non-driving role that specializes in observing the passenger load, tracking and directing activity. They may be required to load and or unload specific special needs equipment.

Job Duties

· Assist in the loading and unload passengers and equipment at designated locations and schools.

· Assist in the transport school pupils and teachers on school activity trips.

· Monitor passenger loads for discipline recommendations and other potential risks or distractions.

· Follow company policies regarding client management and relations with parents, teachers, guardians, medical practitioners, medical facilities, and the public in general.

· Keep records and submit reports as required.

Qualifications

· Meet pertinent vision standards

· Successful completion of all required School Bus Monitor training (provided training through STC)

· Successfully obtain First Aid & CPR certification (Covered by STC)

· Must be capable of learning to communicate effectively with a 2-way radio

Physical & Additional Requirements

· Ability to walk, bend, twist, turn and lift up-to 50lbs

· Sit for extended periods of time with repeated arm and shoulder movement to open and close door.

· Climbing may be required for cleaning windshields/wipers and/or other simple mechanical functions.

· Ability to travel based on business needs to various interprovincial locations.
