Applications are invited from teachers with
BC Certification for the following teaching position:
North Island Secondary School, Port McNeill, BC
0.14 FTE Temporary (0.29 FTE in one semester) - Science 8
Commencing: ASAP to June 30, 2024
or until the return of the incumbent, whichever comes first
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
completion of a Bachelor of Education;
certification by or eligible to become BC certified by the BC Teacher Certification Branch;
academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary level Science;
a strong grasp of the Kwak?wala language;
strong classroom management skills;
the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies;
the ability and desire to work closely with staff in a team-oriented approach to teaching and learning;
strong interest in innovation and inquiry; and
ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.
The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $62,493 to $109,240, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $2,947 over ten months.
