Job Description Summary
Are you passionate about helping and educating others? As a Scientific Support Specialist, you will be an integral member of the team by providing high-quality, efficient, and effective Scientific Support for researchers across the globe.
The Scientific Support Specialist's primary responsibility is to apply their laboratory skills and specialized knowledge to support our global staff and new and existing customers on one or more STEMCELL product lines. In this role, you will provide in-depth product troubleshooting support through direct customer interactions, develop educational resources and tools, as well as deliver internal and customer-facing training programs. You must possess excellent communication skills, an upbeat attitude, and an eye for detail. We are looking for someone with a broad base of scientific research skills, particularly someone with Cell Culture experience.
This is a 1 year (12 month) contract for parental leave coverage, with the possibility to convert into a permanent role based on business needs.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance to customers and Sales team through general and troubleshooting inquiries on specific product lines
  • Design and support the development of scientific training materials and technical resources for staff and customers
  • Deliver and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs delivered to staff and customers
  • Collaborate within a departmental or cross-departmental team to represent customer needs for new product ideas or to develop new educational resources and training
  • Support Cell Culture generation for training delivery and demonstrations
Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant work experience in life sciences; Masters or PhD in a relevant field would be an asset. Preference for familiarity with human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) or epithelial biology
  • 3+ years of experience in customer service support, preferably within a research environment or biotechnology company, would be an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of life science research techniques and technologies. Experience with mammalian Cell Culture is highly desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex scientific concepts to both experts and non-experts alike
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

The annual base salary for this job ranges from:
$68,595.00 - $92,800.00
STEMCELL determines an individual's pay within the range based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization. For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives, the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company policy. In addition to base salary, STEMCELL offers a comprehensive total rewards package including health benefits, retirement savings, and more.
