Job Summary
Under supervision of the Supervisor, this position performs unskilled physical maintenance and repair work usually and primarily performed outdoors.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Performs a variety of general labour tasks in selected areas of the City, including seeding, watering, mowing, fertilizing, weeding, spraying, pruning, cleaning, performing minor repairs and maintenance, hoeing, planting, picking up debris, and using and maintaining tools and lining playing fields.
2. Assists with pest control and pruning operations, as required.
3. Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities.
4. Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon’s Administrative Occupational Health & Safety Policies and departmental procedures.
5. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Grade 10 education.
  • Three months' related horticultural/agricultural experience.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and civic employees.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
Weekly Hours: 40
Salary Range: $18.60 to $20.51 CAD per hour (2023 rates)
