Job purpose

As First Cook at Cobble Beach you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food for both a la carte service and/or banquet services. You must present yourself in a professional manner always. As a first cook, it is your job to pay very close attention to detail and provide our customers with exceptional quality food and presentation.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for proper preparation and presentation of menu items as set out by the executive chef and sous chefs
• Keep a clean, organized and sanitary work environment
• Demonstrate teamwork by cooperating and assisting coworkers as needed
• Responsible for restocking items as needed
• Communicate any product shortages
• Responsible for keeping management notified of any equipment issues
• Minimizes safety hazards by following all health and safety procedures
• Communicates effectively and positively with the front of house and culinary team
• Ensures guest satisfaction by proper preparation of menu items and features
• Follows all kitchen procedures to ensure a smooth-running operation

Qualifications

• Safe food handling certificate
• Previous kitchen experiences an asset
• Currently enrolled in an accredited Culinary Program ie: George Brown, Georgian College, OYAP is an asset

Physical requirements

- Able to stand for long periods

- Ability to lift 50lb

- Repetitive work

Salary: $16.55-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
