Health & Safety, Loss Prevention Business Unit
Security Guard (Contract – 12 Months*)
*Contracts may be renewed to a maximum duration of 24 months based on business conditions and performance.
Position Description:
We are seeking qualified candidates with a security background to join our team. Our Security Team Members prioritize Health and Safety, are highly collaborative and are trusted to uphold policies and procedures to ensure the safety and protection of all employees and visitors who are invited on-site.
Overall Responsibility:
-To protect plant assets from destruction, deterioration and loss.
-Maintain a workplace atmosphere in which all employees and visitors to Dofasco may feel safe and comfortable.
Accountabilities:

-Control access to all property entry locations, and monitors vehicle / pedestrian traffic through the administration check of authorized identification / badging / passes from both remote and staffed stations.
-Ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and practices, while also upholding and enforcing specific company policies.
-Knowledge of MARSEC and what it stands for, as well as the different security levels associated.
-Knowledge of C-Tpat program including how to conduct a manual inspection and how to operate the GateKeeper underground vehicle inspection system and computer.
-Monitor various properties and parking lots through CCTV technology.
-Control and process various passes, such as loan pass, scrap pass and visitor pass.
-Provide EDI / shipping support at certain prescribed gates.
-Respond to Plant Emergencies.
-Act as a first responder in emergency situations and post incident.

-Assist Fire and Medical personnel as required to ensure alignment with policies and procedures.
-Escorting of various outside services, such as EMS, Police, Ministry of Labor.
-Dispatching of mobile units and emergency services to various emergencies.
-Provide parking and traffic enforcement.
-Provide training to co-workers and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure transfer of knowledge to others.
-Engage in committees and project initiatives to have a positive impact on departmental and company direction.
Qualifications:
-Security Guard License is required
-A valid G driver’s license is required
-Graduation from Community College Law and Security program is an asset
-First Aid/CPR Level C and AED is an asset
-Working knowledge of Industrial security, policing or commercial security
-Advanced knowledge federal and provincial statues
-Basic knowledge of Computers and programs such as word and excel
-Knowledge of basic investigation tactics

-Strong interpersonal communication skills
-Good analytical and problem solving skills
Work Environment:
Manufacturing environment. Predominantly working Guardhouses, Guard Stations or Mobile vehicles across the plant.
Hours of Work:
12 hour rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends)
