TO Live’s Patron & Event Services Department is accepting applications for Security staff. This is a part-time hourly position with a schedule subject to business requirements and the programming calendar. The Security Guard will primarily be scheduled during public shows and private events. The Security Guard must be an experienced, outgoing team player who will deliver exceptional service.

The position of Security Guard reports to the Director of Patron & Event Services and could be stationed at any TO Live venue. This position works a varied schedule, including weekdays, weekday evenings, weekends and Holidays. Candidates must have a flexible schedule.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee security operations for all public and private events in conjunction with TO Live’s Patron Service Managers, Stage Door Security, contracted security guards, and selected clients.
• De-escalate situations involving violent and/or disrespectful behaviour.
• Escort individuals off TO Live property as necessary.
• Respond to emergencies following TO Live emergency management policies and procedures.
• Render first-aid to staff and patrons as needed.
• Work in collaboration with external security contractors.
• Assist front-of-house staff in providing support for patrons with accessibility needs.
• Provide customer service support for patrons and renters as needed and directed.
• Respond to general patron and client inquiries.
• Prepare daily shift reports; maintain other records and documentation as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

• Exceptional interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Good computer skills, including report writing and managing emergencies using TO Live’s emergency management software.
• First aid, CPR and AED training
• Experience in security for public buildings and/or live events
• Possess current Ontario Security Guard License
• Must be able to stand for the length of a four-hour shift
• Must be able to operate telephone, radio and life safety monitoring equipment
• Displays high initiative and requires minimal supervision
• Customer service skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Variable and sometimes long hours, including nights, weekends and on-call shifts.
• Daily physical activity, including substantial stair climbing and walking
• Travel and work within TO Live venues
