IBM’s Tech Re-Entry program is looking for talented technical professionals who are looking to restart their technical careers after an absence from the workforce of 12 months or more. This returnship will enable you to work on projects that match your expertise, interests, and abilities. During your IBM Tech Re-Entry program, you will have the opportunity to update your skills in a contemporary work environment. You will have access to the latest tools and technologies available and work alongside a multi-disciplinary teams to hone your expertise and deliver on client-critical solutions. You’ll be able to experience the breadth of IBM resources while developing new skills and relationships.

Re-Entry hires participate in 6 month program to refresh skills. The experience provides personalized technical learning to update and gain additional skills; earning badges and credentials along the way.

This is an opening for a Security Specialist on the Cognos & Planning Analytics (CAPA) Secure Engineering team. The Secure Engineering is part of the Engineering, Quality and Delivery (EQD) Department of the CAPA organization.

As a Security Specialist working on Cognos Analytics, you will be responsible for assessing security vulnerabilities within an allotted time, identifying affected components, and logging and resolving defects. You will assist our Lead Security Engineer in upgrading libraries in Cognos Analytics to resolve vulnerabilities. You will also be responsible to create tools such as scripts, web applications and dashboards to automate our processes.

Key Duties:

  • Assess security vulnerabilities that come through the IBM PSIRT process, Customer Support and internal security scans by indicating if Cognos Analytics is vulnerable to the issue within an allotted time.
  • Coordinate with Development teams to assess vulnerabilities in their respective components and log defects against the various versions of Cognos Analytics that are affected by the vulnerability.
  • Upgrade old versions of third-party libraries by submitting legal approvals for the new versions, executing certification steps and performing Build Engineering actions to resolve vulnerabilities.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Good grasp of the OWASP Top Ten Web Application Security Risks.
  • Solid understanding and experience with at least one scripting technology or programming language.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver in a team environment.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Experience with Cognos Analytics or other Business Intelligence product.
  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Knowledge of Web Application development.
  • Knowledge of Build Engineering and DevOps methodologies.
  • Basic knowledge of tools such as JIRA, SonarQube, and AppScan.
