As a Security Systems Technician, you will maintain, troubleshoot and repair Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) hardware failures/issues. You will also help manage an inventory of security equipment and parts, follow work order processes, install security hardware, and perform basic locksmith functions. Primary duties include:
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair Access Control, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Intercom, Intrusion Detection hardware failures/issues, including but not limited to control panels, modules, alarm devices, central station receivers, cabling, associated equipment and accessories, and any other ancillary equipment.
- Perform basic system programming functions and collaborate with others to ensure security equipment is set up correctly and functioning properly.
- Complete Commission and Program Access Control, Intrusion Detection and CCTV hardware installations for security purposes through associated software systems in accordance with operational requirements and efficiencies.
- Manage security hardware inventory and service work order processes using Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) and at least 3 years of experience working with Access Control, Intrusion Detection, Intercom and CCTV hardware and software systems.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Teams).
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills along with well-developed technical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
Working Conditions: This position works at City facilities including construction sites, water treatment plants, transit platforms, and landfills. 50% of work is completed outdoors in all weather conditions.
Pre-employment Requirements
- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
