Our client, a real estate development company in high growth is looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company's real estate development projects, including the maintenance of financial records, preparation of financial statements, and the coordination and preparation of budgets and forecasts. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all financial and accounting regulations related to real estate development and will work closely with the development team and other departments to ensure that all financial information is accurate and up to date.
The Senior Accountant will be working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and multi-company environment, requiring a high degree of flexibility, adaptability, and attention to detail. The candidate should be able to work independently, be a self-starter, and have a strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. This position is an essential member of the accounting team and will play a key role in the overall success of the organization's real estate development projects.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day accounting operations for real estate development projects, including the maintenance of financial records, preparation of financial statements, and the coordination and preparation of budgets and forecasts
Ensure compliance with all financial and accounting regulations related to real estate development as well as ensuring all lender covenants are met
Preparation of HST/GST/PST/QST reconciliations and returns on a monthly/quarterly basis
Preparation of year-end working papers to support Corporate Income Tax & Partnership Tax Returns
Work closely with the development team and other departments to ensure that all financial information is accurate and up to date
Manage the monthly draw request process for relevant projects
Prepare and file all tax returns and ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations related to real estate development
Conduct financial analysis to support the management in decision-making process for real estate development projects
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications:
CPA certification preferred
University Business degree
3-5 years of experience in a similar position with experience in real estate development and multi-company environments
Strong knowledge of accounting software and tools, including QuickBooks and Excel
