49430 - Toronto - Rotation - 18 months

General Accountabilities:

  • Participate in load analysis and load forecast by customer delivery point.
  • Participate in the preparation of reports and load data analysis for use by various business units in the Company. Prepare defensible load data analysis in support of OEB submissions. Help provide support to internal and external clients and stakeholders such as Load Forecast, Finance, Rate Design, Wholesale and Retail Settlements, and the Customer Service Team to explain load data and provide support to improve the load data analysis, as required.
  • Collect and maintain hourly weather data in a database on a daily basis. Also provide weather data as required after estimating missing values.
  • Provide hourly load forecast by transmission delivery point and by distribution service point.
  • Develop and maintain various load data management products and databases to support the transmission and distribution businesses in the Company, including load data required for prudential requirements, Load Forecast, OGCC, System Investment, Finance, Rate Design, the Conservation & Demand Management Team, the Smart Meter Team and Wholesale & Retail Settlements.
  • Keep abreast of load data management requirements in a regulatory environment in other jurisdictions. Keep abreast of Government, the Ontario Energy Board, and Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) policies related to the electricity industry and their impact on load data management requirements.
  • Work with internal and external clients and stakeholders to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of various load data management tools and products. Support improvements that will enhance the overall delivery of the load data management products.
  • Lead project teams and provide training as required to develop in-house load data management and load analysis capability for the department.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

 

Selection Criteria

Essential Competencies

  • Requires a knowledge of economics, statistics, basic engineering principles and business administration to perform various load analysis.
  • Requires knowledge of load data management and computer programming to develop analytical tools to support key stakeholders such as Load Forecast, Rate Design, Finance, System Investment, Customer Service, and Wholesale & Retail Settlements.
  • Requires a good knowledge of English to effectively communicate both orally and through the preparation of presentations and written technical reports.
  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired in a four-year university education in an appropriate field or equivalent experience.
  • Requires familiarity with load data management and systems, and experience in load analysis by customer delivery point using statistical and data packages such as SAS, SQL and Access
  • Requires experience with processing large amounts of data, extracting required information and summarizing results.
  • Requires experience with station totalization tables, station single line diagrams.
  • Requites experience with customer billing information and systems such as CB300, Tx Tariff tables, Dx Tariff tables.
  • Requires experience in the use of common business programs such as Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Requires a good understanding of the electricity industry in Ontario and the transmission and distribution businesses.
  • Requires a good understanding of the Company's strategic objectives in order to appropriately balance the Company needs against Load Data Management's needs when planning work and interfacing with other staff.
  • A period of over 8 years and up to 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
  • Requires good problem solving skills to modify or develop appropriate methods to address unique load analysis and data management situations where there may be numerous known and some unknown factors.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to work independently as well as the ability to effectively interface with other staff, both within and outside the department, to obtain the necessary data and resolve issues concerning load data management products.
  • Requires ability to assign specific tasks within studies to others in the section along with providing direction and assuming accountability for the results.
  • Requires experience handling multiple tasks while adhering to stringent deadlines.
  • Requires working with outside organizations, including IESO, utility customers and Inergi staff in the resolution of load data management issues.
