Overview

As an Accounting Technician, you will have the opportunity to support the growth of our KPMG Family and assist our Ville St-Laurent team and clients in their bookkeeping for both personally and corporately held investments. Your strong organizational skills and resourcefulness will enable you to effectively manage the bookkeeping of multiple clients and ensure that KPMG clients receive superior service, all under the supervision of experienced colleagues.
What you will do
  • Record daily business transactions such as cash receipts and disbursements.
  • Keep track of accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Manage the reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Personal Tax season coordination and engagement management, including keeping track of status of all engagements, organizing spreadsheets, processing of returns, coordination with clients, e-filing, and ensuring employees have access to CRA and Revenu Quebec.
  • Correspond with the government.
  • Corresponding with clients and providing requested information to clients.
  • Perform general accounting tasks to finalize a file when required.
  • Prepare T5/RL2 forms, RL31, IRS form 1120-F, form 8833, and supporting documents, NR4 and NR6 forms.
  • Prepare tax slips such as T4s/RL1s, T5s, T3 and T5013 and other relevant slips, if required.
  • Preparation of compilation engagements and corporate tax returns.
  • Other tax form preparation and tasks as needed.
What you bring to the role
  • Experience in personal income tax season at an accounting firm, an asset.
  • Experience in Taxprep & CaseWare, an asset.
  • Experience in e-filing with the government, an asset.
  • Experience in navigating the CRA portal.
  • Understanding of basic financial statement and tax concepts, an asset.
  • Technology and computer savviness, in order to adapt to continuous innovations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Professionalism, ability to work independently and intrinsic initiative in work performance.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude in situations that may differ from engagement to engagement under potentially tight deadlines, and
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Our Ville-Saint-Laurent office deals with a vast majority of English clients. Fluency in English is therefore required to interact with and handle requests from anglophone clients on a daily basis.
