Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role.

The actual salary offered is expected to be in the range listed below, however candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.


$85,000 - $105,000 base salary

Job Overview

This role contributes to Wawanesa's goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by providing claim technical training and leadership to the claims team, focusing on claim handling best practices and customer service standards. This role is responsible for the claim training programs from design to, development, tracking, and execution of all training while ensuring compliance with regulations and company handling practices and procedures.


Job Responsibilities

  • Determine training needs, design and execution of claims technical training program
  • Develop and support a learning environment aligned with our company values
  • Oversee and coordinate all claim training efforts, including the management of timelines and schedules for training classes
  • Contribute to the design and execution of the claims technical strategic plan and collaborate with stakeholders to identify learning opportunities in support of our business goals
  • Review, prioritize and manage the annual claim training schedule
  • Contribute to claim employee development and employee performance through coaching feedback and following up on the development of technical competencies
  • Assess sustainment of training programs for continuous improvement through feedback channels, governance model and regulatory requirements
  • Stay abreast of industry, regulatory and company changes or trends that influence our training strategy and content
  • Stay current on learning, development and training methodologies and implement as appropriate for claims technical training
  • Partner with the Learning & Development in content and curriculum development to ensure a blend of learning methodologies are used to support Wawanesa's strategic initiatives and enterprise wide development
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5+ years insurance adjusting experience
  • 1-2 years in a leadership or mentor position is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with business partners and stakeholders
  • Training and Development certificate or completed CIP or similar is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead engaging training sessions with small and large groups that consistently achieve key learning objectives
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, with the proven ability to prioritize, handle multiple assignments, work accurately within tight timelines and interact collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficient use of computer application software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
  • Ability to consistently recognize opportunities for improvement and develop and execute on new ideas to improve training program
  • Effective customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers
  • Excellent knowledge of policy wordings all lines of business, corporate guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Ability to coach, guide, and positively motivate employees
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
  • Position requires the ability to lift up to 5 lbs. on a daily basis
  • Position requires low mobility throughout the branch buildings to meet internal customer demands
  • Position requires travelling to various locations across North America
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
