Description:

Our client in the Fintech Industry based in Calgary, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Architect to join their team for a 4+ month contract employment opportunity. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). They will be able to switch quickly between different technologies within Azure and have a good understanding of regions, networking, VMs, Azure Kubernetes services, containers, and more. The candidate should also be able to work in a high-stress environment and be able to meet tight deadlines. The Senior Cloud Architect opportunity is a contract position at onset, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role for the right candidate. The successful candidate will be expected to work full-time, 8 hours a day, in the MST zone. Some evening and weekend work may be required. The candidate can work remotely, but if they are based in Calgary, Alberta, there may be opportunities to learn through osmosis at a higher ramp-up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and Lead the Zero Data Center Inititative
• Perform day-to-day lifts and plan for the future with an architectural lens
• Work on data migrations
• Work with clients and explain technical concepts in an understandable manner
• Mentor and teach best practices to the cloud operations team
• Participate in solution review boards
• Build and deploy infrastructure as code
• Work on synapse pipelining
• Build documentation

Requirements:

• 10+ years in IT, specifically working with Cloud Infrastructure
• Strong technical background in Azure Cloud Infrastructure, required
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM etc.)
• Experience with AKS and CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of networking and infrastructure
• Ability to content switch multiple times a day
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn and develop skills in real time
• Naturally curious nature with desire to research and learn new technologies and platforms
• Open to feedback and receptive to receiving help, as well as reaching out when required
• Eligible to work in Canada

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, considered an asset
• Experience with Synapse Pipelining
• Experience with Grafana
