As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating complex transit data to assist with operational performance measures to further enhance service delivery for our citizens. Primary duties include:

  • Support the strategic objectives set out under the Calgary Transit Data Strategic Plan.
  • Support the entire Calgary Transit Business Unit by furthering operational efficiencies through the identification of application and data requirements, management of data, and the identification of key performance indicators (KPIs) to enable data driven decisions.
  • Gather data requirements from both internal and external parties, recommends efficient data-related, business and operational reporting solutions and generates customized and complex ad-hoc reports to meet clients' needs.
  • Provide actionable insight and analysis that drive results, inform strategies, and maximize opportunities for the business.
  • Undertake complex analysis, but instilling key insights in a simple model for business collaborators to understand and act upon.
  • Perform other duties including process mapping, dashboard and infographics design and implementation and supports the implementation of the Calgary Transit Data Governance Framework.
 
Qualifications 
  • A completed 2-year diploma and at least 5 years' experience in Statistical Analysis.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI) or similar BI tool, and Structures Query Language (SQL) are required.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Experience with database management, computer programming, business process improvement, quality assurance, and project management will be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge in different programming/scripting languages such as R, Python, and JavaScript will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with other transit/transportation software products such as route scheduling and computerized passenger information systems would be beneficial.
  • Success in this position requires skills in planning, organizing, database analysis, arithmetic calculations, attention to detail, strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical collaborators, proficiently deal with multiple competing priorities and possess an aptitude for problem solving and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, collaborate with other partners and work effectively in a team setting.

Compensation: $37.71 - $50.44 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day 
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle. 
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
