As a Senior Data Strategist, you will lead the translation of business strategies and requirements into specific data solutions, taking overall responsibility for all aspects of solution delivery, from inception through design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This position oversees and coordinates daily operations to support activities including troubleshooting, maintaining, enhancing, and monitoring analytics and business intelligence solutions to get a clear understanding of how The City performs using business and communication skills to influence how the organization tackles business challenges. Primary duties include:
  • Lead the building of data pipelines to bring together information from different sources systems and transforming them into a format that can be easily analyzed.
  • Determine how data is managed from collection through to transformation, distribution, and consumption.
  • Set the blueprint for data and the way it flows through data storage systems.
  • Set the foundation of data processing operations and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
  • Develop, maintain, and test infrastructures for data generation.
  • Work closely with other external Project Specialist, System Architects, Data Scientists, Visualization Data Strategist, and Data Analysts. Oversee architecting solutions that integrate, consolidate, cleanse and structure data for use in analytics and dashboard applications.
  • Implement and improve solutions where the business and information technology work together to ensure the uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, consistency, and accountability of the enterprise's official shared master assets.
  • Design, develop, document, and perform master data quality checks across the data assets under the advanced analytics domain and maintain data quality assurance throughout the data repositories to ensure the quality of data delivered to internal interested parties and the public from our various products.
  • Define the respective data model and underlying data structures. Develop and manage a data model which provides the details of City information, how it is to be stored.
  • Work with interested parties to develop a good understanding of the business context, provide expert judgement and analysis for the architecture design, development, and implementation of diverse types of data solutions including integration, migration, reporting, data warehousing and application data layer.
  • Develop descriptive, prescriptive, and predictive models with state-of- the-art machine learning techniques.
  • Use statistical and analytical methods plus AI tools to automate specific processes within the organization and develop smart solutions to business challenges.
 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in Business, Science, or related field plus at least 7 years of experience with major IT data solutions implementation, ideally in a large, complex, and highly regulated service organization.
  • Experience including a combination of developing, implementing, and monitoring data architecture, data integration, data warehousing, data modeling, mining, data architecture, master data management, data analysis, and continuous improvement of data is required.
  • Experience in SQL, ETL, SAP BI (Business Intelligence) or Business Objects tools, SAP Universe Design tool, Information Design Tool, SAP Ariba, PeopleSoft, Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, or equivalencies will be considered an asset.
  • Expert level of experience in business intelligence, business analysis, technology project management, product delivery, customer liaison, and business strategy will be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong problem solving and analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
