Senior Director of Credit, Construction, Transportation and Industrial

The Director of Credit, Construction, Transporting and Industrial (CT&I) interacts regularly with commercial teams and other department leads to ensure that the operational priorities are aligned with both DLL Canada’s direction, Global Business Unit and Product Overlay strategies. The Director will continually investigate and introduce policy and process improvement measures and present suggestions for consideration.

Day to Day

This position will support the initiatives of DLL Canada by strategically organizing, planning, and managing the CT&I portfolio of the company.

  • Responsible for the entire Credit granting process, including the consistent application of Credit policies, and oversight over all Credit decisions.
  • Direct and manage the workflow activities of the underwriting and Credit functions as well as evaluating, approving, or declining Credit requests within permitted standards.
  • Review and lead a full range of equipment finance transactions, including a variety of transaction sizes, equipment type, etc.
  • Strong understanding and Involvement in both Retail equipment finance and Commercial Finance/Floorplan.
  • Participate and lead as appropriate the risk portion of Basel and other data quality projects. A strong interest in data gathering and accuracy is required.
  • Organize the agenda of the weekly Credit and Risk Committees, in addition to active participation and contribution.
  • Develop, implement, and manage strategic objectives that are vital to the success of the customer and core business.
  • Have a strong understanding and interest in both commercial and retail scorecards, including monitoring and adjusting as required to meet the business needs.
  • Maintain effective communication with sales and operational teams, balancing risk, and reward of opportunities.
  • Drive continuous change through the Credit department and execute training and development action plans for team members as required.

Essentials

  • 8-10 years of relevant Credit experience and Credit underwriting experience in the Construction, Transportation and Industrial equipment finance business sector.
  • Managed a team of at least 5 individuals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or Economics is preferred.
  • Exceptional demonstrated understanding of financial statement analysis, portfolio management concepts, documentation, and registration/security issues.
  • Working knowledge of customer service, collection and recovery, and workout/litigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, initiate, analyze, and implement business systems, management information systems and business process improvements.
  • In-depth understanding of the day-to-day business issues and macroeconomic trends in Canada.
  • Superior managerial and leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail.
  • Energetic personality; results-oriented, decision-maker.
  • Effective written, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, execution and implementation skills.
  • The ability to make considered decisions and able to follow through on “tough but necessary” business decisions and requirements.

Applicable Pay Range

$124,609 - $186,914

DLL is considering candidates in numerous locations. The pay estimate displayed represents the typical pay range for candidates hired for this position in the desired primary work location. Pay may be adjusted outside the projected range based on geographical differentiation as well as for any other lawful reason. Additional factors that may be used to determine your actual pay include your specific skills, years of relevant experience you possess, and other work-related qualifications. Many candidates may start in the bottom half of the applicable pay range, especially those with less experience or qualification.

This position is subject to the terms of DLL’s compensation plans and policies. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to DLL employees, including healthcare benefits, pension plan, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses, and all other benefits that are subject to eligibility.
