Reporting to the General Supervisor, Maintenance the Senior Engineer is responsible for providing support for all site water quality management activities. This position provides leadership and mentorship for site-based maintenance functions including pilots, diversions, and other existing and future operations to meet the Plant Availability, Reliability, and Integrity objectives in an efficient, and cost-effective manner.

You will be a self-motivated leader who can multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated abilities in leadership, organization, and planning as well as the ability to remain adaptable in a dynamic environment is vital in this role.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Work closely with internal partners to manage maintenance activities including contractor and field engineering support, work order approval and prioritization, shutdown planning and execution, and cost control
  • Coordinate MOC activities across sites for approvals, implementation and close-out
  • Develop a reliability program that balances preventative maintenance, spare part inventory, and trade readiness with costs and facility availability requirements
  • Direct the development and completion of engineering deliverables to improve reliability and decrease costs
  • Develop maintenance budgets annually and participate in detailed design, maintainability, and reliability reviews for new operations to ensure maintenance requirements are met
  • Develop and ensure that maintenance support plans meet commissioning peak resource expectations and are in place for new facilities prior to commissioning
  • Direct the troubleshooting of equipment failures to resolve and initiate appropriate remedial action by leading Root Cause Analysis, implementing design changes and participating in safety investigations
  • Support appropriate project design reviews and environmental risk management including participation in FMEAs, HAZOPs, and environmental risk assessments
  • Manage and coordinate scheduled team's vacation and keep track of agreed minimum manning for the sites
  • Lead and mentor EITs, Engineers and Coops throughout different stages or their careers
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
  • Minimum seven years post-graduation experience, with three of those years' experience in facility maintenance roles preferably in Mining or a Process Plant
  • Physically capable of conducting field inspections which include extensive walking in and around the plant area, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces

Salary Range: $115,000 - $142,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
