Senior Financial Accountant
As a numbers person, you love to analyze data and use your experience to solve financial problems. BuildDirect is looking for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join us and take responsibility for our financial accounting function.
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will ensure all activities and responsibilities for month end close and the consolidation of financial statements are performed accurately and in a timely manner. You will be a key member of the accounting team and will work collaboratively with the rest of the Finance team and other areas of the business to ensure timely distribution of financial results. Responsibilities:
• Assist in the completion of the month-end close within the assigned deadline by performing all the required procedures
• Reconcile and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, and prepare associated month-end accruals
• Manage consolidation activities for monthly reporting
• Oversee other accounting tasks to ensure information is available on time for month-end closure
• Prepare & analyze quarterly financial statements package including MD&A
• Assist with the timely completion of tax reporting requirements
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to management and other duties as assigned
• Help prepare the year end lead sheets and help respond to inquiries for year-end audit
• Audit internal reports and initiate dialogue with other departments if need be to ensure accuracy of accounting information
Expected Outcomes:
• Ensure deadlines are met for monthly financial statements
• Identify and communicate operational issues to other team members
• Take initiative to the development and continuously improve process and procedures
• Present financial analysis in clear and meaningful ways
Qualifications and Experience:
• Qualified accountant (CA, CMA or CGA), with a minimum of 3-5 years' experience
• Public practice experience required; audit track preferred
• Industry experience an asset
• Strong understanding of IFRS is required
• Experience with consolidation accounting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Sound judgment skill and has good sense with numbers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong entrepreneurial spirit
• Good knowledge of automated reporting and accounting systems
• Proven success working both individually and as part of a team
• High levels of integrity in handling confidential information
• Desire to learn and continuously improve
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of publicly traded reporting requirement an asset
• Experience with NetSuite an asset
Salary: $85K-$105K
