In this role, you will :
Responsibility 1 : Capital Projects Specific Tasks
- Supports the project management team with Capital Projects and strategic investments' finances, including tracking of overall project costs, budgeting, monitoring, and ad-hoc requests.
- Performs variances to budget analysis and assesses impact on operations and cash-flow.
- Reviews General Ledger, identifies errors or omissions, and prepares correcting adjusting journal entries as required.
- Ensures costs capitalized align with capitalization policy and accounting standards, taking corrective actions if necessary.
- Leads the month-end process for Capital Projects & Philanthropy, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Prepares and posts month-end journal entries.
- Reviews monthly reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Maintains and improves Power BI dashboards for financial and operational reporting.
- Prepares and distributes yearly budget templates.
- Works directly with stakeholders to provide advice and answer any questions regarding the yearly budgeting cycle.
- Compiles completed templates and prepares related annual budget submission entries into the relevant budget database and reporting system.
- Analyzes budgets and trends, ensures budget guidelines are respected, and flags risky accounts and assumptions to senior management.
- Completion of a university degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field with a concentration in accounting and 4-7 years of job-related experience.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting.
- Working knowledge and experience with an accounting system for medium-large enterprises.
- Advanced Excel skills and focused on leveraging technology to increase efficiency.
- Proactive approach with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Time management and organizational skills, reflected in the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues and communicate effectively with senior management. Fluency in French is an asset.
- Ability to work remotely both independently with minimal supervision, and collaboratively within a team.
- Experience in D365, Solver Bi360, Smartsheet, and/or Power BI, coupled with expertise in analyzing and visualizing extensive datasets, is considered an asset.
- Working towards, or completion of, a chartered professional accounting designation, is considered an asset.
- Previous experience managing a portfolio of Capital Projects and working within non-profit organizations, is considered an asset.
