The Opportunity
The Financial Services Branch of the Ministry of Health has a great opportunity for a motivated, self-directed and analytical individual with strong interpersonal and communications skills for the permanent full-time position of Senior Financial Analyst based in Regina. The Senior Financial Analyst is a key contributor in providing analysis and recommendations to decision makers that have a direct impact to the health sector.
In this role, you will utilize your strong financial skills and knowledge of accounting standards to analyze and concisely explain financial matters both verbally and in writing. You will also play a key role in building relationships with stakeholders by evaluating issues and identifying the implications, potential strategies, solutions and recommendations with supporting rationale.
Under the leadership of the Health Partner Financial Services Manager in the Financial Services Branch, this position will be responsible for:
Developing standards, analyzing and assessing financial information of the health sector third parties to understand their current financial performance, including interpreting financial statements, analyzing cash flow and expense forecasts, and performing financial analysis;
Researching, analyzing, and preparing briefing material and recommendations for senior officials based on the third parties’ financial information to assist with resource allocation requirements and decision making;
Assisting in the development of the Ministry of Health budget through consultation with the health sector third parties; and
Building and maintaining positive and effective working relationships with third parties to ensure deadlines, goals and objectives are met.
Typically, the required knowledge and skills for this position is acquired through the successful completion of a degree in Commerce or Business Administration combined with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or progressive experience in financial management and analysis and other relevant experience.
