Reporting to the AVP HR, HRBP Team, as the Senior HR Business Partner, you wear several hats: trusted advisor, consultant, change agent and coach. You sit alongside and collaborate with leaders to manage significant organizational growth and change and foster a highly engaged and inspiring workplace.

What you will do

  • Act as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders and employees, collaboratively, to identify issues, develop, and execute across all areas of our people plan.
  • Consistently implement Securian Canada’s talent strategy and leverage tools and best practices developed by the Centers of Excellence (e.g. Talent Acquisition, Talent and Development, Total Wellbeing, DEI).
  • Partner with client group leadership acting as trusted advisor, to understand business strategy, translate into people strategy, craft workforce plans, lead change management and organizational design initiatives.
  • Drive end to end programs/projects from inception to implementation as required using well developed project management abilities.
  • Engage with leaders in the performance management cycle (e.g. identifying performance concerns, finalizing compensation, promotion candidates, diversity initiatives and career conversations), and manage performance throughout the year.
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset, continuously looking for opportunities to increase the return of investment (ROI) of people programs and ways to improve the employee experience.
  • In partnership with and the business, lead the implementation of employee engagement survey action planning, performance management cycle, succession an talent assessment.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader HR team to drive a “one-HR” approach.

What you will bring

  • 10-12+ years in People related roles, with 5-7 years of experience as an HR Business Partner in an organization experiencing growth and change.
  • Broad knowledge of HR practices, including performance, risk management, coaching, engagement and retention, workforce planning, change management, organizational design, employee relations, compensation, culture and values.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify business problems, breaking them down, designing and executing innovative solutions with attention to small but critical details.
  • Articulate communication. You’re able to speak, write, and present information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong relationship building abilities. You’re comfortable mediating and facilitating discussions at the senior leadership level
  • Firm understanding of legal requirements across Canada related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Strong data analytics mindset with demonstrated ability to lead decision-making with leaders using data-informed analysis well developed project management abilities.
  • Known for solving complex issues without having all the answers, and navigating ambiguity amidst ongoing, fast-paced change. A proactive self starter, takes initiative, demonstrates flexibility.
