Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Collections provides leadership and direction for all aspects in the life cycle of Saskatoon Public Library’s (SPL) physical and digital collections. This includes physical materials, digital materials, and their associated budgets. This includes developing, assessing, recommending, and operationalizing SPL’s collections management strategies in response to social, community, and industry trends.
The Senior Manager, Collections is also responsible for planning, developing, organizing and directing operations and resources within the Collections Services work unit, including managing employee development and performance.
Qualifications
- Masters of Library Science or Masters of Library and Information Science Degree from an ALA-accredited program.
- Minimum of three years progressive professional experience in collection development and service in libraries, including a minimum of two years leadership, supervisory and management experience.
- A demonstrated understanding of trends related to public print and digital media publishing and consumption.
- Familiarity with technical processes related to acquisition, cataloguing, ILS systems, and other collections-specific activities is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with project management is an asset.
- Ability to travel independently to and between SPL activities and locations as needed.
