Form of workReporting to the Superintendent, Mining Engineering, the Senior Mine Engineering Lead is responsible for the development of strategic and operational Long Range mine plans that sustain and appropriately extend the life of our operations. Key focus of the role is to steward the Life of Asset (a mine or project) by optimizing currently permitted reserves and evaluating resource potential to scope new mining areas and extend an asset's reserve base.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Foster a technical environment and culture that is inclusive, rewarding, collaborative and integrated with technical, sustainability and operating functions
- Be a leader in mine planning best practices while including sustainability, stakeholder/Indigenous integration, technology evaluation, and closure aspects into our processes
- Stewardship of Mineral Reserves & Mineral Resource declarations and long-range plans including authentication
- Build and maintain strategic long-Range Planning models including economic evaluation and options analysis
- Communicate strategic mine plan guidance to inform operational plans along with required permitting timelines, risks, and opportunities
- Train and mentor long-Range Planning technical personnel, contributing to a technical succession pipeline
- Foster a technical environment and culture that is inclusive, rewarding, collaborative and integrated with technical, sustainability and operating functions
- Be a leader in mine planning best practices while including sustainability, stakeholder/Indigenous integration, technology evaluation, and closure aspects into our processes

Qualifications:
- Degree in Mining Engineering or similar with a minimum of ~ ten years of experience of progressively increasing technical responsibility in mine planning, design and reserve and resource evaluation and reporting
- Registration with Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) as a Professional Engineer is required, with the ability to act as NI 43-101 Qualified Person and as a direct supervisor for engineers-in-training
- Demonstration of technical leadership with strong strategic planning and systems thinking skills
- Expertise in mine design, costing and scheduling; advanced practitioner with Teck's selected mine design and scheduling/evaluation solutions is an asset (MinePlan3D, XPAC Solutions, COMET)
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with various collaborators, including operational and senior management teams, external consultants, and subject matter experts
- Understanding of national and regional regulations, permitting and mining policy

Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
