The Security and Emergencies Division is responsible for coordination amongst different levels of government and the private sector to improve prevention, preparedness, and response capabilities in New Brunswick for deliberate, accidental or natural events, including 911 services, emergency management and recovery programs, building community capacity and resiliency, security, and critical infrastructure.
The Department of Justice and Public Safety is seeking a motivated individual to join the Security and Emergencies Division as a Senior Project Manger

What you will do

Reporting to the Project coordinator for the Security and Emergencies Division, you will be responsible and accountable for the planning, execution, and finalization of projects of varying degrees of complexity and strategic importance to the organization according to agreed parameters.

The Project Manager will work closely with the Branch directors and managers on any projects that may impact program delivery. In particular, the Project Manager will facilitate the delivery of projects in support for all Branches. The Project Manager will be required to effectively communicate with the ADM, Directors and Managers on issues that may affect the successful delivery of the projects they have been assigned to.

Duties will include:

  • Defining project scopes, goals, requirements and deliverables
  • Acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors
  • Delivering project objectives and overseeing quality control
  • Directing and managing project development
  • Developing full-scale project plans and effectively communicating project expectations
  • Liaising with project stakeholders
  • Drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending budget changes
  • Managing project resources and delegating tasks and responsibilities
  • Setting and managing project expectations
  • Planning, scheduling and tracking project timelines, milestones and deliverables
  • Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations
  • Delivering status reports, analyzing results and troubleshooting problem areas
  • Managing changes in project scope, identifying potential crises and devising contingency plans
  • Building, developing and growing business relationships vital to the success of projects

  • Office location: Victoria Heath Centre, 65 Brunswick Street, Fredericton NB
  • Office layout: Offices and Cubicles
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

Need to have

  • University degree in a relevant discipline
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in project management

Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be increased.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.

Written and spoken competence in English is required, please state your language capability

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing projects across multiple organizations or functional areas
  • Experience in the management of IT initiatives within a high-pressure environment
  • Experience in a government and/or healthcare setting
  • Certification in Scrum/Agile Framework
  • Certification in Change Management

Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Wage

Pay band 6: 2,790 - 3,712 bi-weekly (depending on education and experience)
