Position Title:Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist
Reports To:Manager, Talent Acquisition
Department:
Human Resources
Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity:Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our Human Resources team!
As a subject matter expert on Equitable's processes and talent engagement techniques, this role will create healthy pipelines for our specialized and technical roles, and act as an advisor to the Manager, Talent Acquisition. The Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist will stay up to date on upcoming trends and market shifts and help with some key department projects to enhance our processes and strategies!

What you will be doing:

  • Sourcing high potential candidates using networks and building new networks
  • Sourcing qualified candidates through a variety of techniques including direct contact, social media, job boards, and internet searches
  • Supporting team members with sourcing help and training Talent Acquisition Specialist on sourcing strategies
  • Conduct keyword and Boolean searches to find candidates with the desired skills and experience
  • Partner with senior management to provide guidance through the offer negotiation process
  • Organizing pre-screening meetings, coordinating interviews, and keeping an organized calendar of meetings and follow-ups
  • Conduct telephone and in-person interviews to screen and prequalify potential candidates prior to scheduling and coordinating interviews with hiring managers
  • Provide regular reports to Talent Acquisition Manager on the outcomes of recruitment initiatives and recommendations for improvements to the recruitment strategies
  • Participate in projects/initiatives to build, pilot and enhance our sourcing capabilities
  • Partner with senior management to provide guidance through the offer negotiation process
  • Keep abreast of current trends and recruitment tools in the employment marketplace to build strategies
  • Monitor our hiring practices to ensure legal compliance


What you will bring:

  • 7+ years of progressive work within a Talent Acquisition, Recruitment, Sourcing, or related role
  • 3+ years of experience of proven direct sourcing for IT or Insurance specific roles (Actuary/Underwriting)
  • Post Secondary education in Human Resources, Business or IT is required or equivalent work experience
  • Professional designation in Human Resources (CHRP) certification or working towards is an asset
  • RPR designation is an asset
  • Ability to source candidates from social media channels, professional and industry associations, online networking platforms etc.
  • Prior experience recruiting for multiple types and levels of positions using behavioural interview techniques
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to collaborate with all levels of stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task, work on various projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to understand internal structures and project outcomes of the business to find top talent for the open roles
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to present ideas and demonstrate professionalism
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, productive relationships both internally and externally
  • Previous experience using an Applicant Tracking System and ability to leverage it for optimal recruitment process tracking and candidate experience
  • Knowledge of Human Resources best practices, including executing an AODA and Human Rights compliant process
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards and Compensation practices
  • High level of integrity with a strong sense of confidentiality and privacy
