Responsibilities
- Evaluate new and existing end-customer video delivery platforms, to ensure they meet exacting standards of quality and performance.
- Collaborate with external vendor partners, bringing together industry expertise to solve technical challenges as efficiently and expeditiously as possible.
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues impacting set-Top Box performance and functionality, including OS and driver issues, encryption and rights management, video streaming, and long-term stability.
- Design, develop, and execute test plans to validate the functionality, stability, and performance of customer-facing and supporting systems on current and next-generation set-Top Box hardware.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams and subject matter experts to build roadmaps, evaluate qualification and deployment plans, build consensus, and drive solutions to technically challenging problems.
- You will need to work from one of these locations: Edmonton, Alberta; Toronto, Ontario or Calgary, Alberta

Qualifications and Skills
- Four or more years of experience deploying and supporting IPTV set-Top Boxes (Android TV, Linux, or other embedded systems)
- Two or more years of automation experience using scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, shell scripting, or PowerShell)
- Solid knowledge of audio/video technology and standards (HDMI, HDCP, Infrared, BLE, codecs, HLS, DASH, H.264, etc.)
- Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and network connectivity-related problems
- Experience with software lifecycle tools (Jira, TFS, Confluence)
- Excellent communication skills for conveying complex problems to stakeholders
- Hands-on experience using analytics and instrumentation to identify, interpret, troubleshoot, and resolve functionality and performance issues
Great to Have
- Experience with DRM systems (Widevine, PlayReady, Verimatrix)
- Experience with GCP and/or AWS cloud technologies
- Experience developing software using modern web technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, Websockets, REST)
- Working knowledge of Android software development using Java or Kotlin
- Experience with in-home CPE networking/access layer 2 and 3 routing technologies (MoCA, Ethernet, WiFi)
- Familiarity with device management solutions such as TR-069 and TR-369
Education/Certifications
- Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Computing Science, or equivalent experience
