The Position:
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Sheet Metal Pre-Apprentice will work closely with fellow Pre-Apprentices and Warehouse staff providing assistance with daily task. This is a temporary role within the construction department. This position is for a 308A Sheetmetal apprenticeship. The length of the role with be determined by the demand for the new first year apprentices.
Responsibilities:
- Unload new and left-over materials from outgoing and incoming trucks.
- Pick orders as per job requirements.
- Assist with shipping and receiving or parts.
- Assist with delivery of parts when needed.
- Assist with organizing and cleaning shop.
- High school diploma.
- English language proficiency (read/write/speak).
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Valid G license with a clean driver abstract.
- G3 Gas license (registration in the G3 course is expectable).
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods License an asset.
- Must have strong professional communication skills.
- Must work effectively independently and with a team.
- Must work in an organized manner with an ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess strong attention to detail.
- Must have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
- A friendly and professional approach to dealing with customers
- Excellent communication skills and customer service abilities
- A self-starter who is highly effective working independently and within a team
