What you bring…
Labourers bring a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done!’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:
- · Experience and desire to do physical work- good physical stamina (ability to crouch, working at lower levels)
- · Understanding and experience using hand and power tools
- Experience with demolition/removal in a residential/commercial setting
- · Curious nature, always want to know how things happen
- · Strong people, teamwork and communication skills: ability to lead and coach others
- · Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions and work orders
- · A safety mindset
- · Valid driver’s licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)
- · Ability to communicate in English: ability to discuss and explain work with homeowners, calmly and clearly
Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:
- · Experienced in construction, particularly demolition

Of Note
Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

- Do you have basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience?
- Are you willing to learn and help other departments if needed: including demolition and debris disposal?
- Are you capable of: Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (from 35-65% of the time) • Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 50% of the time)
- Are you comfortable working in disaster environments such as water damage and fire damage?
- Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule? This is additional to scheduled day time hours.
- Please provide information on your experience with demolition. What have you taken apart, which tools have you used, could you teach co-workers to help you?
- Are you fluent reading / writing/ speaking English? If no, please rank your skills out of 10. Are you confident in speaking with homeowners and explaining details of the job as well as written documentation?
Experience:
- home renovation: 1 year (preferred)
- demolition: 1 year (preferred)
- construction: 1 year (preferred)
- using hand and power tools: 1 year (preferred)
