The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to work on a distributed web based payment processing application that handles hundreds of thousands of transactions every day. Because it’s impossible for one person to know our whole codebase, collaboration is very important to us. The ideal candidate is comfortable asking questions and pairing with other developers to gain familiarity with the codebase but also enjoys digging into legacy code themselves to find their own answers.
We work in 2-week sprints and have daily standups, 1-2 refinement sessions per week, and sprint retro and planning at the end and beginning of every sprint. 1:1s with your manager are weekly to start and can drop down to biweekly once you’re fully onboarded.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Work with other developers to design, code, test and document distributed software applications
- Take part in an agile environment and the practice of iterative and incremental changes
- Contribute to translation of product requirements into reliable, scalable and maintainable software systems for you and your team to implement
- Develop your skills as a technical mentee through peer code reviews and other collaborative software practices
- Coordinate with production operations teams to help with ad-hoc troubleshooting and client support during regular business hours
- Contribute to software quality by writing unit tests and working with QA on the automated test suite
Who Are We Looking For
We look for big thinkers. People who can drive positive change, step up and show what’s next – people who care about writing maintainable code, have a can-do attitude and a hunger to learn and grow. In practice this means:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a Software Development related field
- 1-3 years of experience working in a Software Development related field
- You’ve written SQL before and are familiar with relational databases
- Ability to program in object oriented languages with experience in C#
- Ability to program in frontend languages and frameworks with experience in javascript
- You have written unit tests and can verify the correctness of code you write
- You thrive in a highly collaborative environment and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
