We are looking to hire an individual with a passion for the natural and applied sciences to join our team as a Soil Scientist at our Calgary office location. This position offers an interesting variety of office and field work on a diversified range of projects that include reclamation projects, supporting biophysical assessments and environmental impact assessments. Although the position will be based in Calgary, AB, we have opportunities to work on projects located in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the northern Territories.

Your Role:
Conduct soil classification and terrain surveys, including soil sampling, analyzing field data, interpreting analytical data, and mapping soil according to the Canadian System of Soil Classification
Develop conservation and reclamation plans, conduct pre-disturbance soil assessments, and conduct post construction site assessments
Provide on-site expertise for environmental monitoring (construction and reclamation) for compliance with environmental and regulatory guidelines and/or commitments
Review field data and provide initial data interpretations
Work with senior technical staff to deliver high quality products to meet our client’s specific needs.
Assist with or directly prepare technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, budget forecasting, and client invoicing.
Inspiring a team of Environmental Consultants to high standards of excellence and continuous improvement.
Staying current on general trends in the technical field and market sector provincially and nationally.

Qualifications:
BSc. or M.Sc. in Soil Science, Environmental Science or a related field
2+ years work experience in environmental consulting specifically related to soils (pre-disturbance, reclamation, contaminated site investigation, and remediation)
Proficient in Canadian System of Soil Classification.
Knowledge in soil mapping and Western Canadian environmental regulations is an asset.
Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) designation or working towards one
Able to perform field work over extended periods of time
Strong written communication skills and previous experience writing technical reports
Effective organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, plan, schedule, and coordinate various activities relating to projects and proposal submissions
Strong knowledge of Alberta environmental regulations
