Job description

Position Overview:

Wander the Spa, a serene Nordic-inspired wellness retreat nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Bloomfield, ON, is seeking a passionate and experienced Wellness Facilitator to lead our guests in transformative wellness experiences. As a Wellness Facilitator, you will play a pivotal role in guiding guests on their journey to relaxation, rejuvenation, and holistic well-being, utilizing your expertise in at least one wellness element, such as sound therapy, hydrotherapy, yoga, pilates, meditation, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Wellness Programming: Design and facilitate wellness activities, workshops, and classes tailored to the needs and interests of guests. Lead sessions in your area of expertise, incorporating elements of mindfulness, relaxation, and self-care to promote holistic well-being.
  • Guest Engagement: Welcome guests warmly and create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for participants of all ages and skill levels. Provide guidance, encouragement, and personalised instruction to help guests fully engage and benefit from the wellness experience.
  • Instruction and Demonstration: Lead group sessions or one-on-one sessions, demonstrating proper techniques, postures, and breathing exercises. Offer modifications and adjustments to accommodate varying levels of ability and ensure safety and comfort for all participants.
  • Education and Empowerment: Educate guests about the principles and benefits of your chosen wellness modality, fostering a deeper understanding of its effects on the body, mind, and spirit. Empower guests to integrate these practices into their daily lives for sustained wellness and balance.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during wellness activities, adhering to established protocols and guidelines. Monitor participants for signs of discomfort or distress and provide appropriate support and assistance as needed.
  • Equipment and Supplies: Prepare and maintain equipment, props, and supplies needed for wellness sessions, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and availability. Set up and dismantle equipment before and after sessions, maintaining an organised and inviting space for guests.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with other spa staff members, including therapists, receptionists, and maintenance personnel, to coordinate wellness activities and ensure a seamless guest experience. Communicate regularly with management to provide feedback, suggestions, and updates on programming.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of current trends, research, and best practices in your area of expertise, attending training workshops, conferences, and professional development opportunities as appropriate. Share knowledge and insights with colleagues to enhance the overall wellness program.
  • Guest Relations: Build rapport with guests, establishing trust and rapport through positive interactions and attentive service. Anticipate guest needs and preferences, striving to exceed expectations and create memorable experiences that inspire lasting wellness habits.
  • Administration and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of attendance, feedback, and evaluations for wellness activities. Assist with program promotion, marketing, and scheduling as needed, contributing to the success and growth of the wellness program.

Requirements:

  • Certification or qualification in at least one wellness modality, such as sound therapy, hydrotherapy, yoga, pilates, meditation, or similar practices.
  • Previous experience leading group wellness activities or classes, preferably in a spa, wellness centre, or similar environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with guests and create a supportive and motivating atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and the principles of holistic health and wellness.
  • Ability to adapt teaching styles and techniques to accommodate diverse learning needs and preferences.
  • CPR and first aid certification (preferred).
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Passion for wellness and a commitment to helping others achieve their wellness goals.
