Role Summary:

Services & Solutions Engineering provides technical assistance to the sales force, service centers and customers to develop technical solutions and equipment upgrades. Employees in Services & Solutions Engineering roles act as the front-end, customer-facing arm of the Engineering and Services & Solutions organization and spend a majority of time meeting customers to discuss Flowserve services and capabilities. They assist the sales force through customer presentations, technical forums, training activities, and general promotion of the Integrated Solutions Group (ISG) services and capabilities. These employees often partner with Product Engineering and Marketing & Technology to determine solutions to customer equipment and system issues.

The engineering specialist is a subject matter expert and provides support to internal and external customers on proposals, orders, and root cause analysis in the area of expertise.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Displays solid pump industry market knowledge.

  • Works with local resources to recommend corrective actions to remediate any/all product performance issues.

  • Delivers training to improve understanding and sharing product knowledge.

  • Participates as needed in design review panels and supports root cause analyses.

  • Prepares recommendations regarding technical aspects in delivering solutions to customers.

  • Defines unique Flowserve technical vectors of differentiation and value proposition for selected upgrade programs and or solutions for the product specialty.

  • Distributes knowledge to others to facilitate their development.

  • Demonstrates market knowledge of competitive trends for industry, product, repair, parts & services, and upgrades.

  • Visits customer sites with sales on high level meetings and maintains relationships with key contacts at customer sites related to the field of specialization.

  • Supports the development and maintenance of internal training materials in the area of specialism.

  • Assists sales in all technical customer presentations and special customer technical forums in local region/country.

  • Assists in all necessary training in local region/country (customer, engineering, repair centers, sales force, field service etc.) on product specialty. Coordinates with the Educational Services Group.

  • Participates as a team member when new upgrade product development projects are executed on the Product specialty.

  • Supports operations in the execution of orders where special product and/or industry knowledge is required to deliver the correct quality, on-time.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree with a M.S. in Engineering or Engineering Management preferred.

  • Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Preferred Experience / Characteristics:

  • 10 years industrial experience within the rotating equipment industry.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving with a demonstrated ability to apply technology to creatively solve problems and meet business and stakeholder needs.

  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated success in effectively leading complex projects involving cross-functional and global teams.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to compose concise reports and presentations.

  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish key results through influence.

  • Proven ability to adapt to changing organizational environment and business needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with geographically dispersed teams with culturally diverse membership.
