The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre (Maples) is part of the Child and Youth Mental Health Provincial Services Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Maples is a designated provincial mental health facility providing on-site, community, outreach, and ancillary services to collaboratively support youth, families, and communities. The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre works with children and youth in British Columbia with enduing and severe mental health and behavioural difficulties, as well as youth found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or unfit to stand trial.
The Child and Youth with Complex Needs (CYCCN) program is part of the Maples and provides service to young people ages 7-18 with co-occurring persistent emotional, mental health, development and/or behavioural needs that cause a functional impairment in the home, school, or community and who require specialized, integrated service plans. Services can be provided on-site in the Complex Care Unit (CCU) or through Provincial Outreach.
Under the direction of the Child and Youth with Complex Care Needs (CYCCN) Team Leader, the Child Case Worker Supervisor functions in the role of shift coordination of the Child Case Workers; assignation of child or youth work to Child Case Workers; responsible for overall daily routines and operations of the unit; ensuring application of specific Stabilization and Intervention plans using Positive Behaviour Support Plans and Safety Plans and provides direct supervision to Child Case Workers; works under direction of Team Leader and in coordination with the Psychologist or Provincial Outreach Clinicians in overall functioning of the unit and care of the children and youth and on-going involvement in model of care development and evaluation (may provide community education and training events), experienced in and able to provide clinical formulations of client behavioural plans using Positive Behaviour Support, Trauma, Developmental and Attachment principles and interventions consistent with treatment modalities.
Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or Child and Youth Care or a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology or a comparable Degree at the Bachelor's level or higher. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). Confirmation for equivalency for your degree is required for you to be considered. Please indicate in your resume (include a copy of the approval; if in progress), proof must be provided on or by the closing date of the posting).

Experience must include the following:
  • Minimum of three (3) year recent experience (gained within the past 5 years) working in a clinical capacity in a school or hospital setting, ministry or resource setting or a contracted clinical service.
  • Experience working with children, youth or developmentally delayed individuals.
  • Experience working directly with children or youth who have challenging behaviours, including violence and aggression.

Preference may be given to applicant with the following:
  • More than four (4) years recent (gained within the past 5 years) experience working in a clinical capacity in a school or hospital setting, ministry or resource setting or a contracted clinical service.
  • Applicants with experience leading and supervising a team
  • Applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

WILLINGNESS STATEMENTS / PROVISO:
  • Possessand continue to maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
    • NOTE: If you currently have a valid Driver's Licence in Canada, you must acquire a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence immediately.
  • Work in close proximity to potentially aggressive, violent or otherwise unpredictable youth.
  • Willing and able to perform shift work
  • Perform a wide range of physical activities, including restraints.
  • New employees are subject to TB screening and providing immunization status prior to commencing employment.
