Sr. Account Director

Job Description Summary

Responsible for the overall leadership, and day-to-day account management activities, for a diverse portfolio of properties on behalf of one of our largest national Global Occupier Services clients. Primarily responsible for client's retail portfolio transactions (branches and ATM's), while collaborating with C&W Brokerage Leadership, who are responsible for the client's Office portfolio. Implement the overall vision and strategy of our client and perform to specific metrics as agreed to in collaboration with client. Build an effective relationship at multiple client touchpoints, drive the strategy and tactical responsibilities with urgency, and deliver a broad robust C&W enterprise platform of services to the client. Collaborate with C&W Brokerage Leadership on all critical issues and continuously look to improve service delivery.

Job Description

Major Responsibilities

The Senior Account Director will manage, the following general account functions:

  • Account Management
    • Overall responsibility for retail transaction service delivery and transaction team
    • Lead the team and drive results for client with consistency and with urgency
    • Ensure local broker selection is aligned with client needs and priorities,
    • Track and manage the day-to-day transaction workload of team members and recommend adjustments where appropriate.
    • In collaboration with our HR business partners, provide on-boarding support and career development training to new team members
    • Develop new and grow existing relationships with client, vendors, landlords, and 3rd party partners
    • Provide suggestions and best practices relating to the transaction playbook (processes, tools, etc.)
    • Ensure mutually agreed transaction management processes and tools are utilized and provide leadership in developing and implementing client driven and/or C&W technology to support account goals.
    • Identify potential issues, advise the client in a timely manner and take action accordingly
    • Prepare and deliver high level executive level presentations to client senior leadership
    • Oversee development and delivery of all required client facing and internal reporting
    • Take responsibility for the P/L of the Account.
    • Oversee the development and ongoing management of the annual operating budget for the account.
    • Provide monthly (or as required) budget updates and forecasts in a timely manner
  • Strategic Planning
    • On an annual basis, establish Client's objectives and business drivers for the next 12 months, and develop strategic plan to meet those objectives.
    • In collaboration with Client, develop portfolio wide strategies specifically for strategic, high profile, or major (multi-site) client relationships with its landlords.
    • Incorporate agreed strategic goals into all ongoing transactions; monitor and report on results.
    • Review ongoing internal and client challenges and explore future service delivery optimization
  • TransactionManagement:
    • Collaborate with C&W and non-C&W brokerage professionals to ensure effective negotiations of business terms for a wide variety of transactions including lease, sale, sublease, and purchase
    • Drive the ongoing discovery and delivery of new retail location opportunities to client on a timely basis.
    • Directly oversee or execute on complex, critical, or other high-profile transactions
    • Directly oversee or execute portfolio wide agreements with Strategic Landlords, as and when required.
    • Ensure accuracy of financial data and reporting in relation to transactions
    • Identify and implement process improvements
    • Develop and implement transaction performance measurements
    • Ability to work effectively and lead a team in a cohesive, performance measured environment
    • Provide written and oral reporting of critical lease action items
    • Ensure accuracy of critical lease action date reporting
    • Oversee maintenance of database ensuring all data is accurately classified, approved and processed

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required (finance/real estate preferred); Master's degree preferred
  • Real Estate License required, MCR and/or SLCR designations preferred
  • 15+ years of multiple Real Estate discipline experience; experience on both Landlord and Occupier side preferred.
  • Strong financial services background, including significant Retail experience in Canada required
  • Experience Managing Large Global / Canadian Real Estate Transaction Management Portfolios
  • Strong connections to Retail Landlord and Investor community in Canada, including direct involvement in negotiating high profile transactions with senior level stakeholders
  • Experience managing, reviewing, and approving a large volume of transactions
  • Experience managing multiple internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to work effectively and lead a team in a cohesive, performance measured environment
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and reflect a sense of urgency by meeting or exceeding deadlines and thriving in a matrixed organizational environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, self-management, and problem resolution skills
  • Proven record of providing exceptional internal and external customer service
  • Excellent relationship building skills at multiple management levels
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Complex financial analysis experience and familiarity with financial concepts
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office; experience using CoStar and Tririga preferred
