STERILIZATION TECHNICIAN
Our busy Periodontal Office is looking for a Sterilization Technician to join our family-like work environment. Our office is open Monday-Thursday, no evenings or weekends. A Sterilization Technician will be responsible for working in compliance with the Ontario Health and Safety Act, applicable legislated standards and guidelines set forth by Public Health Ontario (PHO) and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) to ensure instruments are sterile when delivered for use in the clinic and patient safety is assured.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES (NOT LIMITED TO)
· Perform routine maintenance of all sterilization equipment (as per manufacturer’s instructions)
· Performs daily tasks to ensure all sterilization equipment in functioning properly and record results
· Perform Quality inspections of instruments/devices at various stages of reprocessing to verify they have been cleaned, disinfected and sterilized in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
· Ensure packages/pouches are labelled in accordance with PHO and RCDSO
· Ensure daily physical, chemical and biological monitoring are performed to verify the effectiveness of sterilization
· Ensure results are recorded properly
· Maintain monthly maintenance schedule and daily sterilization log
· Maintain a clean and safe environment in the reprocessing room
· Ensure sterilization supplies are adequately stocked
· Ensure strict adherence to PHO and RCDSO policies and procedures of sterility of instruments/devices cannot be verified
· Ensure instruments/devices are stored in accordance with PHO and RCDSO
· Must be able to stand for long periods
· Be able to perform these duties WHILE wearing personal protective equipment such as gown, mask, gloves, eye and hand protection
· Facilitate patient flow by cleaning and resetting clinic chairs as efficiently as possible
· Work cooperatively with fellow team members
· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
· Dental Assistant Certificate (preferrable, but NOT REQUIRED)
· Ontario Public Health Infection Control and Reprocessing Certificates (preferrable, although we will provide necessary training)
· Secondary school or equivalent
· Previous experience in a medical or dental practice (preferrable, but NOT REQUIRED)
