The Ministry of Forests is responsible for the stewardship of provincial Crown land and ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land-based resources. The Ministry manages these resources in a manner that embraces economic, environmental and social goals of government.
This Geospatial (GIS) Analyst position conducts advanced spatial data analysis in support of management decision making on resource planning, land management, or other program issues in the Cariboo-Chilcotin Natural Resource District.
To be successful in this role, you are well-versed in manipulating and integrating geographical and statistical data using geographic information systems, as well as other applications and relational database management systems. You bring experience creating a variety of digital, geographical and descriptive products including themes, colour thematic maps, terrain models and associated descriptive statistics. Job Requirements:
  • Diploma level education in both geographic information systems and natural resource management or equivalent (diploma or degree in a natural resource field and one (1) year of experience doing complex GIS analyst using ESRI tools).
  • Experience designing and developing customized spatial applications and preparing spatial decision support information for decision makers.
  • Experience delivering spatial analysis projects in support of clients' business needs.
  • Experience with data management to create and maintain spatial and attribute data sets.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in delivering GIS solutions for forest management.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent full time position available.
Remote work is allowed. This position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved Telework Agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.

Depending on the successful candidate's location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
