What You’ll Do;

Team Town Sports is gearing up for an adrenaline-pumping season as we kick off our newest retail store in Whitby. We're recruiting an exceptional Store Manager to join our team as an 'Head Coach' reporting to the Reporting to the Director of Operations.

As the 'Head Coach' of the store, you'll be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the operation are running smoothly, from customer service to sales and profits, with the support of your Assistant Manager (“Assistant Coach”). You'll be a true motivator, inspiring your team to excel in everything from selling skills to health and safety practices. And of course, as a true sports enthusiast, you'll be fully committed to upholding Team Town Sports policies and procedures.

  • Leads by example, providing exceptional customer service to Team Town Sports internal and external customers, serving as a role model for all customer service standards.
  • Holds full accountability for attaining location profitability targets including sales and wage targets, shrink and audit, and key KPI’s.
  • Completes authorizations for warranties and defective products according to Team Town Sports Standards and Guidelines.
  • Holds management and team accountable for following Sporting Life Loss Prevention Policies.
  • Continuously oversees all operations and staff performance phases within the selling and support areas and provides direction and correction where necessary.
  • Provide direction to the Management team on the allocation of hours weekly to achieve store payroll budget.
  • Motivates and leads managers and staff regarding selling skills, store cleanliness, departmental job lists, health and safety practices, employee relations, and compliance with Sporting Life policies and procedures.
  • In partnership with senior management monitors staff development through on-going coaching, training, succession planning, and performance appraisals.
  • Provides consistent connection and leadership to the team, on and off the sales floor, promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Conduct effective and motivational weekly management meetings.
  • Conducts monthly one one-on-one Management meetings of direct reports creating an environment of high-performance through focus and achievement of sales budgets, controllable expenses and Department KPI’s and targets.
  • Continuously assesses requirements for staff hiring, development and training.


What You’ll Bring;

  • 4 – 5 years of senior retail management experience, in a comparable volume store.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Superior knowledge in store operations, and demonstratable success in improving customer and employee experience.
  • Ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience in managing controllable expenses and efficient scheduling.
  • Strong sense of urgency and able to be nimble in understanding and driving sales in a changing business environment
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Understanding how to analyze business reporting and make business decisions and drive results through data.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and POS systems.
