Job Summary
Under supervision of the Material Planning and Building Superintendent, this position is responsible for the receipt, inspection, storage, issuing and security of the Division inventory and for organizing stores material/layout in an efficient manner. This position also supervises staff in the stores area and building maintenance functions.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervises and trains staff engaged in the stores and building maintenance functions.
  • Ensures that the receipt, inspection and storage of goods are completed in accordance with established procedures and initiates and processes claims for substandard or damaged goods.
  • Receives and evaluates all returns of excess and salvaged material and equipment.
  • Assists with determining surpluses and processes documentation for disposal.
  • Assists with the establishment of minimum and maximum inventory order quantities.
  • Ensures that material issue transactions are issued in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensures that security measures for stores and yard areas are in place and followed.
  • Supervises periodic cycle counting and investigates, explains and documents all discrepancies.
  • Assists the Buyer with purchasing, including issuing blanket releases.
  • Maintains SDS records for appropriate inventory and non-inventory items.
  • Performs duties of the Buyer, as required.
  • Assists with coverage of the Inventory Coordinator's responsibilities as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 education.
  • Minimum four years' experience related to warehouses, inventory, purchasing, or ERP/MRP systems.
  • Successful completion within one year of start date for the following Supply Chain Canada (SCC(formerly SCMA courses):
  • Introduction to Procurement
  • Logistics
  • Transportation
  • Operations Management
  • Successful completion of, or ability to complete successfully, within six months after date of hire, a recognized SDS, TDG, and forklift safety training certification course.
  • Experience working with SAP inventory systems, and with the SAP P2P processes is considered an asset.
  • Experience operating an industrial forklift with a rated capacity of a minimum of 10,000 lbs is considered an asset.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract, from SGI, demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of inventory procedures related to receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and security of a variety of equipment, materials, tools and supplies.
  • Knowledge of the equipment, materials, tools and supplies used by electrical utilities.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other civic departments, suppliers and shipping agencies.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties, including lifting heavy material.
  • Ability to logically identify and respond to time sensitive priorities.
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices is considered an asset.
  • Skilled with the use of a computer, and with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving, developing, and implementing solutions.
Weekly Hours: 37.33
Salary Range: to $34.82 CAD per hour (2023 rates)
