As the Strategic Legislative Analyst supporting the City Clerk's Office Civic Engagement and Protocol team, you will support: implementation of the Public Hearing Improvements Project; review, update and implement policies; update and develop procedures for services; manage emerging citizen engagement initiatives; and program and event support to Civic Engagement and Protocol services. Primary duties include:

  • Deliver on Council-Directed work through research, analysis and liaising with other Business Unit partners.
  • Conduct research engagements to develop and articulate partners' position on strategic issues.
  • Develop governance resources and tools such as guides, procedures, templates, and website content.
  • Report writing that incorporates findings and recommendations that effectively communicate Key messages. Manage projects and initiatives including scope and timelines.
     
 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a related discipline with at least 2 years' experience in research, data analysis, consultation, project management and report writing.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Experience interpreting and applying relevant legislation is required.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers Licence or provincial equivalent and the use of a personal vehicle for work is also required.
  • Experience working in local government will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in project management or coordination. 
  • Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to collaborate at all levels in a large and complex organization along with the ability to think strategically with well-developed analytical skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and effectively lead multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Position Type: 1 Temporary ( up to 20 months) 
Location: 323, 7 Avenue S.E.
Compensation: Level D $72,674 - 108,190 per annum 
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
