Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division has a career opportunity for a Structural Engineer. This position will support the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations at SRCs Rare Earth Processing FacilityNorth Americas first fully integrated, commercial, demonstration facility with hydrometallurgy, separation and metal smelting units. Join a growing team that is working to establish a rare earth element (REE) technology hub in Saskatchewan, forming an industry model for future commercial REE initiatives and supply chain development. This is an 18-months term position with possibility of extension.
Accountabilities
Review the structural systems of the building design and equipment layout
Perform engineering calculations and design concrete pads, as well as steel platforms, enclosures, equipment frames, racking and trays for piping and cabling
Ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations
Prepare shop fabrication drawings and reviews
Stamp documents and drawings as required
Lead or assist with drafting vendor work packages throughout the procurement process and assist with the construction management
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in civil/Structural Engineering and registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGS
5+ years of Structural Engineering experience in heavy industry related to steel and concrete analysis and design
Understanding of codes and regulations such as Canadian Standard Associations (CSA), National Building Code of Canada (NBC) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
