We are looking for a new creative to join the Eccentric Artist team! If you love art and have previous experience working with clay in a studio environment, then send us your resume or pop on by the studio for a visit! We are currently seeking a studio tech/ceramics teacher who is self motivated, organized, energetic and has exceptional knowledge of clay bodies. The Eccentric Artist Studio & Gallery is a student-minded, upbeat pottery studio which also teaches cyanotype printing, block printing, kids clay classes, private events etc.
** We have two separate listings for a Ceramics Instructor and Studio Technician, these positions can be combined if the right candidate applies and suits the role.
Job Description: Studio Tech
- Greets and helps customers who visit the studio.
- Maintains kiln, equipment, and firings.
o Load and unload kiln with assistance
o Fire kiln on program
o Clean kiln furniture and reapply wash.
o Keep kiln furniture and accessories organized with accurate inventory
- Maintain the studio space cleanliness standards through cleaning, tidying, and organizing artwork and supplies
- All cleanup after Open Studio hours including washing all tools, wheel, glaze container maintenance, and canvas mats. Washing table canvas as required.
- Provide “aftercare’ for pieces, such as kiln-firing clay, glazing ceramics etc.
- Make sales by informing customers about our current offerings
- Provide studio orientations to new visitors
- Supervise open studio
- Restock supplies and tools
- Maintain clay inventory, recovery, and storage.
- Maintain glaze inventory, surplus recovery, and storage.
- Keep student and kiln rental pieces organized and rotating on studio shelves as they dry or are fired.
- Participate in and contribute to Staff Meetings

- Basic knowledge of clay bodies and glaze
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must have 2 years or more experience in hand building.
- Fluent in English.
